Overall Mission: To save lives and protect property by developing programs and emergency operation capabilities that mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency or disaster situation - whether it be caused by natural or manmade occurrences.

The County Emergency Management Agency is responsible for developing and maintaining an ongoing program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

The Agency serves the chief executives by working with the departments of local government and private sector organizations in the development of plans and capabilities responsive to those hazards which seriously threaten the jurisdiction.

The County Emergency Management Director serves as: a key leader in planning, coordinator of operations, chief of staff to the jurisdiction's executives during emergency response, community liaison to build the emergency program, and supporter of mitigation efforts.

PlymouthAlert is an Emergency Notification System that serves Plymouth County, Iowa. PlymouthAlert will allow citizens to sign up for the types of alerts they would like to receive. Messages can be issued via landline or cell phone, text messaging and e-mail. Messages may contain photo, video and audio attachments to help subscribers better understand the situation at hand, or where to find additional information.
